The Nationwide Governance Programme is a collaborative partnership between Community Governance Aotearoa and Mentoring Foundation New Zealand, initiated to help develop the governance ability of our community board members with guided one-to-one mentoring.
A few key points about the Nationwide Governance Programme:
- The programme is free (includes $2,500 of value per person) and runs for six months.
- Mentees will undergo a mix of online/face to face mentoring and have regular catch-up meetings with their mentor.
- Mentees will be supported with good governance training modules.

Seeking Governance Mentors in Wellington and Dunedin. If you have community governance experience and would like to help others with their governance development, then you might make a great mentor in our programme. You don’t need to have previous experience as a mentor. Our partners at the Mentoring Foundation can support you with this. Please feel free to contact our team for more information.
Programme Background: In 2021 Community Governance Aotearoa partnered with the Mentoring Foundation NZ and Volunteer Kāpiti to trial a pilot governance programme with the Kāpiti community.
In 2022 Community Governance Aotearoa and the Mentoring Foundation NZ delivered 100 board members from across Aotearoa with governance mentoring to support their skills and grow their governance capability.
