We inspire, engage, and provide educational tools and resources to help embed best-practice governance at the board table.

Community Governance Aotearoa was created to lead and deliver on the National Strategy for Community Governance and the National Action Plan. Our focus is on developing, delivering, and collating a range of not-for-profit resources, tools, information, and opportunities for learning that are low cost, practical, and accessible.

Community Governance Aotearoa is a registered charitable trust  CC60332.

The National Action Plan for Community Governance

Our National Action Plan has six goals:

  • All community governance members have basic governance skills.
  • All community governance groups perform their governance function well.
  • Everyone values community governance.
  • Diverse, talented community governors are appointed to community boards.
  • Best practice in community governance is identified and shared.
  • All boards are well-governed.

Our work

  • Inspire: We will share case studies, offer opportunities to connect with leaders, and hold roundtable discussions with experts and thought leaders.
  • Engage: We will facilitate opportunities to connect with people in governance roles through online panel discussions, think tanks, and co-design workshops.
  • Educate: We will provide learning opportunities, tools and templates, and easy to follow guides to help you do your job well.
