Our nationwide online event ‘I Love Community Governance’ held on the 16th of June was all about celebrating the value of good governance and the contributions we make to community organisations in Aotearoa. We love serving our communities and we do this through our governance roles.
Community Governance Aotearoa Chief Executive – Tumu Whakarae Rose Hiha-Agnew says that at the event “The word service, came through loud and clear. Service by fulfilling governance roles in turn, fills ones’ own kete. The value of giving back through our governance roles through the connections we make, aroha, friends, networks, and community means so much to us. This successful event clearly demonstrated the value our community has, and the impact we make day in and day out.”
Our guest speakers prompted discussions and shared valuable learnings. Rob Campbell challenged our community to think outside the status quo, and to explore governance frameworks and structures that better reflect the diversity of our communities.
Our inspirational keynote speaker Kevin Biggar challenged us to dig even deeper when the road gets tough, and to set even more ambitious goals!
Throughout Aotearoa everyone who joined from Northland to Invercargill, representing the many different communities from sports, social services, environmental, and cultural not-for-profit organisations, we all contributed to making this event a success.
The Community Governance Aotearoa team are looking forward to changing things up a bit for the November follow-up event with a priority on exploring the big challenges facing our sector.
The most meaningful word from our community was service – that’s why we do what we do!
A big thank you to our event sponsor
