As I reflect on 2024, it felt like a year full of challenges and opportunities for our community sector. A change in government signalled a new direction, and sharp funding reductions meant many organisations had to quickly adapt to survive while also navigating a deepening economic crisis and unrelenting demands on our time and energy.
In response, we reset, refocused, and launched initiatives like the Salary Packaging Campaign and Policy Week supporting and championing the needs of our sector. Community Governance Aotearoa remained steadfast in our kaupapa, delivering a record number of events, growing our membership, and achieving unprecedented website engagement, whilst also answering the phone to many, who needed our advice and guidance.
A few personal highlights included meeting our community from throughout Aotearoa kanohi ki te kanohi, and celebrating the Tuakana Teina programme achievements, which supported 75 Chairs over three impactful years.
Thank you all — your dedication made the difference.
